I was able to get an amazing deal on tickets for the lawn at DTE Energy Music Theatre just outside of Detroit.

Drove upwards of 500 miles in the GTI round trip and had an absolutely wonderful time in every aspect. My friend and I, aged 18 and 16 respectively, were among the youngest in the audience and certainly the youngest not being drug around by our parents.

Major takeaways:

•Joe Walsh is hilarious and I’m so glad I got to see him perform.

•Bad Company really put on a better show.

•The GTI is wonderfully composed at really any speed.

•Paul Rodgers is a god among men.

•Old people like weed too.

For me it was very cool to be able to see these acts that I never thought I would get a chance to. I’ve grown up listening to classic rock and Joe Walsh and Bad Company are two big hitters in that genre.

Also take into account that Paul Rodgers was in Free (a band I adore) before Bad Company, and I was pretty much in heaven all evening.

This concludes my brief recap of the evening. Ask me anything about the trip or the show or anything really, and also share any concert stories you have (or are willing to confess to.)

DTE is a great venue. I saw Blink-182 and My Chemical Romance there on the Honda Civic Tour a few years ago.
Semi-related, I was wearing the shirt from that particular concert last night when I went to see Motion City Soundtrack perform at the Eagles Club in Milwaukee, WI.

Last one we saw was Earth, Wind, and Fire at the Beacon Theater in 2013. Great show ... had Ringo tickets in 2014 but SigOther’s dad died, so we sold them for change on CL.

Man am I looking forward to this new Blink album. First two releases way better than expected, really digging the band with Skiba.

Did they cover that Five Finger Death Punch song? I hear Bad Company's version is pretty sick, too!
